My Bio
Middle-aged, US ex-pat in Japan, English-Japanese bilingual, manga and fantasy fan. My art is gardening not photography, so I apologize here for the poor quality of the pictures. ^^; I aim to create particular views in the garden rather than a garden that forms an integrated image, The overall result is a bit chaotic. Different viewing angles in different seasons are what I attempt to create (not always as successfully as I'd like).

Yet another misfortunate effect of the switch to Eclipse appears to be the proliferation of spambot phishing scams. Seriously, folks get your shit together.

Eclipse mess

I'd been hoping for the past year they would wise up, but apparently they are going through with this nightmare. Granted the site as it is has it's issues, but after using the new version for a few days I just want to cry. They've made the site orders of magnitude more time consuming and complex to navigate and manipulate with only a very few useful changes.

For the first (and hopefully not last) time, I experienced silence at a red light. This was not because there was no traffic. It was because not a single vehicle was idling. Here in Japan most new cars for the last several either have an automatic engine stop when the car isn't moving or an 'eco' toggle button that engages the option. Also, many trucking companies here require the drivers to shut off their engines at traffic lights. This evening was the first time I saw this come together for an entire line of stopped traffic. It was both surreal and wonderful.
